Failure Detection and RecoveryServer Side Heartbeat TimerThe Server Side Heartbeat Timer is used for setting the frequency in seconds which to poll the 3rd party client for presence. If the client is not present then Graceful Termination is initiated. This timer is a registry key value and is in seconds. The key is: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\
GS_Tnet\Parameters\ClntChkTimeout The default value is 30. (That is 30 seconds) You may disable this timer by setting it to 0xffffffff . This is how to change the registry key for the Server Side Heartbeat Timer. Note: (you must be on the Windows NT/2000 system that the Georgia SoftWorks Windows NT/2000 Telnet Server is installed. However you may connect to the Windows NT/2000 Registry from a remote location). 1. Click the Start button at the bottom left corner of your screen. 2. Click RUN 3. Type REGEDT32 4. Click OK 5. Select Windows item HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE 6. Select the menu item Edit 7. Move the mouse pointer and click Find 8. Type ClntChkTimeout 9. Click on Find Next 10. Select the menu item Edit and then click on Modify 11. Enter the new value for the Server Side Heartbeat Timer and click OK The new Server Side Heartbeat Timer will take effect for all new connections.
